Guadalupe School is a community of students, staff and volunteers who believe that education is the greatest tool to fight the cycle of poverty. We are five programs within one school, each reaching individuals and families living in poverty. To all who enroll in our programs, we provide a sense of connection, a welcome place to learn and a chance to find better opportunities.
Congratulations to our outstanding students that were nominated by their teachers for the month of March! These students have exemplified the vision of Guadalupe of learning, literacy, and living.
The student of the month is Shayla. She is always doing her best. She is thinking of the underdog and caring about them. On top of that her teacher can put her by anyone in the class and she will help them do what they need to. She is very kind and compassionate. She has continued to work on her academics and is one of the top in the class.
Berenice was chosen as the Adult Education student of the month for February because she helped give first aid to a student who became ill during class time, leaving her studies for the evening to assist in caring for the student. This is what she wrote about herself:
Hi. My name is Maria Berenice Cruz. I’m from Mexico. I’m married and have three kids and two dogs. The things I enjoy doing are reading, cooking and watching TV. But the thing I love best is spending time with my family. I also love to help others.
